Brandywine Valley Wineries
There are several local wineries in the Brandywine Valley, each with their own areas of expertise and their own specialties. Spending an afternoon sampling the locally blended wines or Chardonnays, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlots and more can be a delightfully relaxing and rewarding experience.

Chaddsford Winery, makes its home in the Brandywine Valley in a renovated 17th century colonial barn which was converted to a small premium winery in 1982. Today Chaddsford produces 30,000 cases of wine. They recently opened a new location in Bucks County, PA.

Established in 1994, J. Maki Winery at French Creek Ridge Vineyards is the only American winery ever to be honored with the gold medal for Blanc de Blancs champagne at the prestigious Vinalies Internationales wine competition in Paris, France. Located in northwestern Chester County, the winery specializes in premium dry table wines including Chardonnay, Viognier, Gewurztraminer, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, a Bordeaux blend, Pinot Noir, and offers four champagnes.

Paradocx is owned and operated by the Hoffman and Harris families. The vineyard is an independent vinifera and premium hybrid wine grape grower producing 15 varieties of grapes: Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Sangiovese, Cabernet Franc, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat Ottonel, Petit Verdot, Touriga, Carmine, Pinot Blanc, Auxxerois, Chambourcin and Vidal. Paradocx has a tasting room in Kennett Square in the Shops of Longwood.

Open in 1987 after growing and selling grapes to other vineyards for eight years, Stargazers Vineyards produces about 25,000 bottles of wine a year. They offer Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Souvignon Blanc and Muscat, two sparkling wines (Pinot Noir and Riesling) and five Champagnes.

After three decades of success as a wine importer, Gino Razzi, an Italian immigrant who settled in the Delaware County area in 1962, turned his experience towards the craft of winemaking. Creating his first finished wine in 1997 with SYMPOSIUM, a Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, it was awarded 95 points by Wine Spectator Magazine. In 2004 Gino bought Smithbridge Winery for it's 25 year-old vines and is going about the business of making world-class Pennsylvania wine.

A family-built business, Flickerwood Wine Cellars in Kane, PA is run by Ron & Sue Zampogna. Ron has been an amateur winemaker for over 30 years, perfecting several blends of wine from Native American and French hybrid grapes. He feels winemaking is part of his Italian heritage that should be continued and passed along to future Zampogna generations. The natural skill and knowledge that he possesses is very evident to everyone who has sampled his wine.

It started one day in 2001 when owners Lance, Valerie, Jack and Karen decided to try their hand at winemaking. In April of 2006 they began the process of renovating the 198 year-old, bank barn in Chester County, PA which is home to Black Walnut Winery.
