Rt. 100, Chadds Ford Historical Society, PA, across from John Chads House
Chadds Ford Days is a colonial themed event. You'll find Colonial crafters in authentic colonial dress demonstrating their respective skills in bowl and horn carving, colonial clothing, needlework, gun smithing, miniature painting, quilting, redware pottery, rug hooking, weaving and wool spinning, etc. There are also plenty of craft and art exhibitors to see and activities for the kids, but the appeal of Chadds Ford Days is its relaxed attitude and friendly atmosphere.
The photos here are from 2001 when the theme was "Music in the Meadow" honoring Chris Sanderson who fiddled at the first Chadds Ford Days celebration back in 1958. In his honor, singer/songwriter Kevin Roth headlined a roster of musical performers playing in the grove. Saturday it was Sam Lamb and the White Clay Tributary, Vic Sadot and Planete Folle and Kevin Roth. Sunday, Jim La Drew and the Brandywine Friends, Sally Jane Denk, Snow Hill (Old Timey Music), Charlie Zahm and the "Songs of Scotland and the Sea", and dulcimer band Sugar Sands Rambler.
Chadds Ford Days makes for a relaxing and enjoyable family oriented afternoon. You can eat lunch at the picnic tables in grove near the art exhibit tents and stalls and the food concessions.
Admission $8 for adults, $6 for seniors, $1 for children 7 to 12, free for children 6 and under. Proceeds go toward the Chadds Ford Historical Society's educational programs and maintenance of John Chads House and the Barns-Brinton House.
