Artists working in all media are invited to explore the vista from inside the Museum where they can sketch, paint, or photograph while staying warm. The Chadds Ford Historical Society hosts its 11th annual Plein Air art event on February 8th and 9th. Plein Air artists will be painting the Brandywine countryside.ÊA wine and cheese reception with the artists will be held on Saturday, February 9 from 5pm - 8pm.ÊÊAdmission is $10 per person and can be purchased online or at the event.ÊPaintings will be available for sale during the reception and through March 16.

10:00 am - 1:00 pm. The Polar Plunge event is hosted by the Brandywine Red Clay Alliance to support their efforts to protect and conserve the natural resources of the Brandywine and Red Clay Valleys. Since 2008, nearly 1,200 people have taken the plunge to raise over $107,700 to protect and conserve our regions natural resources. Participants can register online or may register at the event.

"Empty Bowls" is an international, grassroots, crafts-based effort to end hunger. It's mission is to provide nutritional food to over 1,200 individuals in the community each month. Attendees will enjoy a simple meal of soup and salad and leave with a handmade bowl as a reminder of families in need. Proceeds of this event benefit Delaware Center for Horticulture's Community Greening Program, which uses horticulture to beautify Delaware and to improve the quality of life for residents in urban neighborhoods. Annual Wildflower, Native Plant and Seed Sale(TBA)

Gardeners can choose from a superb selection of low-maintenance, beautiful native plants that are suitable for sun or shade and all types of landscapes. Natives plants are a great way to "go green" because they are adapted to the local growing conditions and require less water and intensive care in the garden. Many varieties will attract songbirds, hummingbirds and butterflies and are as useful for strengthening the local ecosystem as they are low-maintenance additions to the garden. The Annual "Hear We Go" 5K Run/Walk portion takes place throughout the beautifully blooming grounds of Nemours Estate, arguably the largest formal French garden in North America. The event concludes with refreshments and an educational fair for families and children on the grounds of Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of proper and timely diagnosis and management of hearing loss in children in order to facilitate their language development. Proceeds will benefit clinical and research programs at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, related to hearing loss and hearing conservation in children in our community.

An annual professional cycling race in historic West Chester. One hundred professional and USCF licensed cyclist's race 60 laps around a 1 mile downtown circuit at speeds of 35 mph. Racers will jockey for position while navigating narrow streets and tight corners. All the action begins at the intersection of Gay and High Streets, the home of Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant the founding sponsor of the event.

The Pennsylvania Hunt Cup is a Timber steeplechase race with a distance of four miles and 22 fences, over fair hunting country. It is a substantial test of both horse and rider, and is one of just three 4-mile steeplechase races sanctioned by the National Steeplechase Association. First run in 1921 over a course in Whitemarsh , PA, the race moved to the present location in Unionville, PA in 1964, where it has been held annually since. Over the years the race meeting has grown so that the race day card now includes three sanctioned timber races, and the Pennsylvania Pony Hunt Cup for children.
